Title: Scaling Radiopharmaceutical Therapeutics for Commercial manufacturing

Framework: Introduction: 5 min, 3 x 15 min for each presentation, plus final 25 min Q&A discussion

Objectives:

• GMP regulatory framework for large-scale RLT manufacturing: Examine the GMP requirements applicable to the commercial-scale manufacture of radioligand therapies (RLTs) across major global markets. Assess how EU GMP requirements, including Annex 1, and U.S. cGMP requirements under 21 CFR Part 211 apply to therapeutic radiopharmaceutical manufacturing, with particular focus on contamination control strategy (CCS), aseptic processing, facility and operational controls, and pharmaceutical quality systems. Extend the assessment to other key jurisdictions, including Japan and China, identifying areas of regulatory convergence and divergence and the implications for sponsors seeking to establish a globally aligned manufacturing and supply strategy.

Speaker: Nina Aalén Dørre | Bayer | VP, CMC Radiopharm Lead

• Building the right capabilities to successfully scale RLT manufacturing: Examine the practical requirements for building, expanding, or adapting manufacturing capacity for radioligand therapies (RLTs), from facility and process design through operational readiness. Address key considerations including hot cell and shielding design, equipment and automation strategy, radiation safety and material flows, facility and equipment qualification, process and analytical validation, and quality system implementation. Highlight the unique challenges associated with short half-life products, including compressed manufacturing and release timelines, decentralized versus centralized manufacturing models, supply chain coordination, and the need to integrate production, quality control, release, and distribution within tightly controlled time windows.

Speaker: Silje Sivesind | Agilera | Production Director

• Manufacturing technology – what will RLT manufacturers need tomorrow? Explore the next generation of manufacturing technologies required to support the continued growth and industrialization of radioligand therapies (RLTs). Examine the evolving needs of large pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, including greater automation, throughput, flexibility, closed processing, digital integration, real-time monitoring, and reduced operator intervention and radiation exposure. Consider how RLT manufacturers and equipment suppliers can collaborate earlier and more strategically to develop scalable, standardized, and GMP-ready manufacturing platforms. Address how responsibilities should be defined and shared between manufacturers and equipment suppliers for GMP compliance, qualification and validation, data integrity, contamination control, and radiation protection, and how equipment design can better integrate pharmaceutical quality and safety requirements from the outset.

Speaker: Matteo Camaggi | TEMA Sinergie | Key Account Manager & Sales Engineer – Radiopharma & Nuclear Medicine
