Airport & Arrival Information

Airport

The Vienna airport is located 25 km south of the city. It takes approximately 25–35 minutes by car to the city centre. Some low-cost airlines fly to the nearby Bratislava airport, located about 1-hour drive from Vienna.

Vienna Airport is very well connected to the city and traffic is rarely a problem. There are buses, trains, express trains and taxis around the clock. For a quick overview on schedules and transportation, please check the Austrian Federal Railway website:  https://www.oebb.at/en/.

City Airport Train (CAT)

Due to modernisation works, the train service will be temporarily replaced by high-frequency premium buses operating up to five times per hour between the airport and Landstraße/Wien Mitte (connection to metro U3 and U4).

Ticket vending machines are located in the airport’s arrivals/baggage area. Current prices at ticket vending machines are approximately €14.90 for a single ticket and €24.90 for a return ticket. More information: https://www.cityairporttrain.com/en/

Train (OEBB)

During the EANM’26, parts of the ÖBB line will be affected by modernisation works. Long-distance Railjet trains will continue to connect the airport with the main train station (stop Hauptbahnhof, connection U1).

You need a valid ticket that covers the route from the airport into Vienna. Tickets are available at the OEBB ticket counter in the arrivals area, at ticket vending machines at the airport and stations, and via the ÖBB Ticket app or online at https://www.oebb.at/en/

Bus

The airport bus takes 20 to 40 minutes depending on traffic and destination. Three lines (VAB 1–3) operate from the airport bus terminal: VAB 1 to Westbahnhof via Hauptbahnhof every 30 minutes, VAB 2 to Morzinplatz/Schwedenplatz every 30 minutes, and VAB 3 hourly to Donauzentrum/Kagran. VAB 3 stops near the congress center.

One-way tickets cost €11 for adults, and return tickets are €20. Buy tickets on the bus (cash only), from machines at the airport, or online: https://www.viennaairportbus.com/en/

Taxi

When leaving the arrival halls, follow signs to the official taxi stands. An average taxi journey from Vienna Airport to downtown takes about 25–40 minutes and costs approx. €37–€45 one-way for up to four people (fixed rates include most surcharges; luggage fees may apply extra for larger groups). Request an ‘Airport Taxi’ (or German ‘Flughafentaxi’) for trips back to the airport to secure a fixed price.

Main taxi companies:
+43 1 40100 or +43 1 31300

Avoid unofficial taxis outside stands to prevent overcharges.

Pre-booked transfer

Avoid unofficial taxis outside stands to prevent overcharges. To book a transfer in advance is highly recommendable and the companies will offer you fixed rates from €27 to €38 to the city center.
