Words of Welcome by Luísa Roldão Pereira, Chair of the EANM Technologists Committee
Dear fellow Technologists,
It is a privilege and a genuine pleasure to invite you to the EANM’26 Congress in Vienna, on behalf of the EANM Technologists Committee.
In Vienna, tradition meets innovation, classical foundations harmonise with forward-thinking ideas. It is, perhaps, the perfect metaphor for Nuclear Medicine today. We are a discipline grounded in strong scientific principles, yet constantly evolving through technological advances, exciting Theranostics paths, stepping into artificial intelligence, and personalised care. At the centre of this evolution stand the patients we care for, but also multidisciplinary teams, of which you, the Nuclear Medicine Technologists, are such a significant part.
Each EANM Congress has its own character, but what never changes is the remarkable energy of our community. Passionate, interested, and ever curious – Technologists are the steady force behind safe, high-quality imaging and therapy. We are the frontline engine, problem-solvers, patient advocates, and increasingly, critical connectors.
At EANM’26, we will once again present a comprehensive and dynamic Technologists’ Track, carefully designed to reflect the real priorities of our profession. As such, we will:
- Provide practical, applicable guidance that supports everyday clinical excellence around new working practices and flexible working; offer a focus on radiation protection, dosimetry, paediatrics; and launch our yearly Technologist Guide.
- Offer Mini Courses and sessions designed to sharpen skills and boost confidence in daily practice.
Collaboration continues to be omnipresent in our programme, which was built together with colleagues from other committees and partner societies, reflecting the true interdisciplinary nature of Nuclear Medicine.
As a Portuguese Technologist beginning my first year as Chair of the Technologists Committee, I feel a sense of meaning knowing that the street leading to our congress bears the name of Aristides de Sousa Mendes – a symbol of courage and principled leadership in difficult times. His legacy reminds us that leadership, in any field, is grounded in responsibility, integrity, and service to others – values that are fundamental to our roles.
May Vienna inspire us not only to connect and collaborate, but also to reflect more deeply on our own professional impact – on our patients, our teams, and the future of Nuclear Medicine – while taking time to experience the beauty and spirit of this remarkable city. Join us in Vienna: to learn, to lead, to collaborate, and to enjoy being part of this extraordinary community!
